Week Two | June 22, 2022

Today, the view is breathtaking, and so is the weather. The great region of Vancouver is showing off in front of Henri, who is completely amazed. 400 km are covered, to lead Henri to the city of Kelowna, BC.

A glimmer of hope in Henri’s heart, who can finally accomplish the expected distance without being wet to the bone.

Well done my friend.

Rain, rain, rain, when will you stop bothering our friend Henri? 200 km in the bag. Henri is now out of Vancouver, and is just on the periphery of the big city, in the municipality of Abbotsford. He offers himself a bit of sleep before hitting the road again for a big day tomorrow!

Week Two | June 20, 2022

Smaller day after the huge day in the saddle yesterday. 200 km to finally arrive in Vancouver. Relief. Guess what? Pouring rain all day long, once again… But at least Henri will be able to enjoy civilization and eat a real meal, without candy or chocolate!

Week Two | June 19, 2022

Wow. Big day. 400 kilometres and 5600 m of elevation gain. That’s a lot of climbing. And all these gravel roads don’t leave any respite. Henri has to be constantly focused, and the slightest technical mistake could become fatal. Not to mention the continuous climbs at 15% gradient.

The landscapes on the approach to Vancouver are simply breathtaking. 20 hours in the saddle later, Henri arrives in Whistler with the feeling of having accomplished his duty.

Week One | June 18, 2022

Departure from Prince-George! Henri’s energy level is a bit low today. The long and steep climbs are starting to get difficult, as well as the lack of sleep.

The pouring rain leads him to Williams Lake, for a 250 km day in the saddle. It’s time for the sun to come out!

Week One | June 17, 2022

Departure from Smithers on this Friday morning, towards the city of Prince-George. About 380 km on the menu. The weather was quite clement today. Henri enjoys the sunrays that warm him up at the end of the day, and give him a boost of energy. The sight of a Costco also comforts Henri, who starts a well-deserved return to civilization. Objective of the day accomplished.

Keep it up man.

Week One | June 16, 2022

The fascination of wild animals and night outings slowly gives way to fear and apprehension. The nocturnal meetings do not cease multiplying between the bears and Henri, who prefers to see them in broad daylight. In spite of the impromptu meetings, Henri continues his way.

He allows himself a night in an hostel, to shower and enjoy a little sleep, before leaving again at the end of the evening, once the rain has passed.

Week One | June 15, 2022

20,000 calories, 515 kilometres and 21 hours in the saddle later, Henri finally put his foot down to enjoy a few hours of sleep.

The longer he pedals, the faster he reaches civilization. The long and perilous crossing of the Cassiar Highway is now behind him

Despite this small victory, another huge day is waiting tomorrow.

Week One | June 14, 2022

The unbearable headwind and the lack of supplies severely hindered our friend Henri’s progress. Despite the energy he had left, Henri decided to stop after 86 km, at the only possible place where he was expecting to find sleep.

Bears, porcupines and other wild animals did, however, decorate his journey to his great happiness, but not without occasional fears!

Tomorrow is another day.

Week One | June 12, 2022

The big start is here! Henri is in the saddle, at the top of his form, at 6 am. First objective: to take on the Yukon and its savage plains. Henri moves forward, despite the hazards.

No more than ten degrees on the menu, in addition to a torrential downpour. The road is long and strenuous. Henri revises his daily mileage objective to a more modest level.
