In a year when Montreal is the epicenter of the professional cycling scene, Le Braquet and artist LeBicar have teamed up to create a Jersey and a Tech Shirt that pay tribute to the city and its champions—both past and future.

This is our second collaboration with LeBicar. Just like the Road World Championships returning to Montreal, great stories deserve to be told again and again.

Q&A with LeBicar

We sat down with our good friend LeBicar to get to learn a bit more about the project. Here is how our Q&A went down:

1. What was your creative process behind this project?
The idea was to create a jersey that highlights the upcoming Road World Championships, but above all, Montreal’s hospitality and the passion for cycling. Through various pictograms and nods to Montreal, I wanted to create a visual signature for the city. A welcome jersey, so to speak, to celebrate Montreal as it hosts the World Championships.

2. With this collaboration, we wanted to pay tribute to Montreal, a city central to your work. Why is representing Montreal important to you?
For me, Montreal has always been a bit of an underdog city that deserves more attention. It’s the artists, the athletes, and everyone who brings the city to life who contribute to its reputation. As an artist who grew up in Montreal, I see it as my duty to give back to the city and help shine a light on it in my own way.

3. Since our last collaboration in 2022, how has your connection to the cycling community evolved?
I don’t come directly from the cycling world, but I spend a lot of time with people who are passionate about cycling. I really identify with the idea of finding moments of pure joy through a passion—for me, that’s been art and skateboarding. In fact, there are many parallels between the skateboarding and cycling scenes, particularly that strong sense of community despite the individual nature of these sports.

4. To wrap up, just for fun: someone is visiting Montreal for the first time and asks you for a must-visit spot (restaurant, shop, place). What would it be?
If you’re coming to Montreal for the first time, you have to grab a bagel at Greenberg on Parc before heading up Camillien-Houde. I’d also stop by Studio Niksen in the Sud-Ouest, and while you’re in the area, take a little detour to see my sculpture downtown!
